7 Natural remedies to get rid of acne and pimples

Pimples. Acne. Zits. Bumps. Spots. Whatever you want to call them, they are annoying, and chances are, they will happen at the most inopportune time. You might think that once you pass puberty, you’re in the clear as far as blemishes are concerned, but that is not always the case.

7 Natural remedies to get rid of acne and pimples

1. Ice

Ice can be used to quickly reduce the redness, swelling and inflammation of pimples. It helps in improving blood circulation to the affected area, and in tightening the skin pores and removing dirt and oil accumulated on the skin. You can use ice cubes or crushed ice, whichever is convenient.

2. Lemon juice

The natural astringent and antibacterial properties of lemon juice are great for clearing up skin. To get the best results, just apply the lemon juice directly to the skin and leave it for up to an hour.

3. Toothpaste

The toothpaste that you use every morning to clean your teeth also can be used to treat pimples quickly. It is most effective when used following the ice remedy. You must use white toothpaste; avoid using gel toothpaste.

4. Egg white

The protein rich egg whites may save your day in case you apply it before going to bed. Take an egg and separate the yolk by moving it back and forth between the two halves of the shell. The whites will be collected in the bowl and the yolk will stay back in the shell half. Apply the egg whites on the pimples using your fingers. Leave it to dry and stay overnight. Wash your face with warm water in the morning to get pimples-free face.

5. Steam

Steaming is magnificent for your skin and will become more effective, in case you have pimples. Steaming will help your skin breathe by opening your skin pores. This helps dispose of oils, dirt and bacteria trapped in the pores that can cause infection or inflammation.

6. Apple cider vinegar

Sort of along the same lines as lemon juice, apple cider vinegar has the same antibacterial properties, as well as antifungal properties as well. Apple cider vinegar is very powerful though, so you might want to dilute it when you use it, at least at first. Just apply a small amount to your skin, but make sure that you choose pure, undiluted vinegar for best results.

7. Garlic

Isn’t garlic great for everything? Not only does garlic have a ton of antibacterial properties when you eat it, it also has great effects when applied directly to the skin. To use, just thinly slice a clove of garlic. Rub the garlic clove and the juice of the garlic onto your skin, paying close attention to problem areas, and leave on for up to 30 minutes.

How to Fight Acne Forever With Oil Cleansing Method

As health enthusiasts, we keep looking for the most natural and effective methods to enhance our lives and the life of our beloved ones. As a matter of fact we decided to dive into the sea of oil cleansing which will help you get the skin you always wanted.
Source : http://biohealthyliving.com

People are often skeptical to try this natural solution at the beginning, since the idea of putting oil to clean the skin – which may be already oily – is a bit weird. but let me say that it works very effectively, here is why:

WHAT IS OIL CLEANSING?

The basic concept of oil cleansing refers to using a combination of specific oils to naturally balance the skin’s oils. This will help you get a much more moisturized and clean skin, which is better than using commercial products that may harm your skin in a way or another. This notion is so simple as quoted from www.theoilcleansingmethod.com:
“The basic concept of this skin care and cleansing method is that the oil used to massage your skin will dissolve the oil that has hardened with impurities and found itself stuck in your pores. The steam will open your pores, allowing the oil to be easily removed. Should you need it, the smallest drop of the same oil formula patted over damp skin will provide the necessary lubrication to keep your skin from over-compensating in oil production”

WHY USING OIL?

People tend to forget one important rule of chemistry, which is “like dissolves like” and this means that the used oil will help to balance oil levels on your skin by dissolving and breaking it down.
Using oil as beauty ally has been a tradition for thousands of years. Many civilizations used it for its great benefits. So don’t be afraid of using oil on your face. The natural oils will not bring you acne, blackheads or Pimples. These are the result of many different factors such as : hormones and bacteria. Your skin naturally benefits from the oil produced by your body. Therefore having an oily skin is not something unnatural. Oil is also needed to allow your largest organ to function properly.
Applying natural oils to balance the oil production of your body will not only clean your skin but will also help lubricate, moisturize, heal and protect it so that it can function properly. And that means beautiful, clear and glowing.

HOW TO PICK THE RIGHT OIL?

In general any natural oils can work fine. Yet most people prefer using Castor oil, since it has strong anti-inflammatory properties, but can also heal and cleanse, which is the main reason why natural beauty experts suggest it for the oil cleansing method. Another reason why Castor oil is very used is because it is naturally astringent so it will pull impurities effectively from your skin, which makes it perfect for oily and even dry skin.
Since Castor oil has very potent cleansing properties, using it alone may leave you with dry skin. To avoid this , we need to dilute it with another oil, which must be thinner in consistency, but not less nutrient to the skin. Olive oil is my personal choice, since I have it all the time at home. But some people prefer using Sunflower Seed or safflower oil.
If you can’t use Castor oil as a primary oil for any reason, you can use hazelnut oil. Extra-virgin coconut oil also works fine.
Here is some suggestions for making your blend (I’m choosing Castor and olive oil as an example):

  • Oily Skin: Try a blend of 30% Castor Oil to 70% Sunflower Seed Oil.
  • Balanced Skin: Try a blend of 20% Castor Oil to 80% Sunflower Seed Oil.
  • Dry Skin: Try a blend of 10% Castor Oil to 90% Sunflower Seed Oil.

THE OIL CLEANSING METHOD

To explain the method, there is nothing better than a video. Here is a tutorial by Kendra Atkins showing how to cleanse your skin with oil:

So this is it! After reading the article are you still afraid of oil cleansing? if you do and you are still hesitant, we would love to learn about your concerns.

4 Natural Treatments for Back Acne

Back acne, sometimes conveniently called bacne, is one of the most inconvenient things to suffer from. And if you have facial acne, you are more prone to have back acne too. When your back’s overactive oil glands (sebaceous glands) get clogged by excessive dead skin cells or sebum (oil), it gives rise to bacteria that cause acne on your back.

So what gives? Why do I only get body acne in the summer? "During the summer, your body produces more oil and you sweat more, so when you combine oil and sweat, well, you get acne. Then there's sunscreen. Sunscreen is great, and it is nonnegotiable in the summer, but it can cause breakouts, especially since you're wearing more of it. You're not alone, though. I definitely see a lot more patients for body acne during the summer months."

Is it the same as the acne on my face? "The breakouts on your chest and back tend to be a little different than the acne on your face. They're technically called folliculitis, which is when the hair follicle becomes infected. However, it looks the same as facial acne and can be treated with the same products and ingredients. In some cases, it can actually be rosacea triggered by coffee or dairy, but it isn't that common on the chest and back."

Natural Ways to Get Rid of Back Acne

1. Epsom Salt also Cures Back Acne
If you find sea salt expensive or not effective for your back acne, you may try Epsom salt which is comparatively inexpensive remedy for bacne. Epsom salt is the common name of the natural mineral compound, magnesium sulfate. The anti-inflammatory magnesium can be well absorbed by skin and give relief from redness, irritation and itchy skin. It also activates enzymes to help regulate various nutrients vital for the health of skin such as zinc, potassium and vitamin D. It helps flush out toxins apart from helping in proper absorption of nutrients.

2. Oatmeal Bath for Back Acne
Oatmeal is one ingredient which is beneficial for almost all types of skin, dry or oily and even aging skin. It works for acne prone skin by soaking up the excessive sebum oil. It also gently exfoliates your skin to clean off the dirt and open the skin pores. When oil is removed and dead skin too, your skin gets rejuvenated along with a moisturizing effect. Oatmeal bath will not only eliminate back acne but will also get you rid of bacne scars! Here’s how to get soothing oatmeal bath for acne on your back.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar for Back Acne Remedy
Apple cider vinegar (ACV), as you might know, is a marvelous ingredient for your body. It may also help you get rid of bacne. ACV does it by balancing the pH of your body which naturally eliminates the acne breakouts. Because Apple cider vinegar is also an effective antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent, it is counted amongst one of the best remedies for acne as a whole and not only for back acne. Nothing like when you drink 1-2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar mixed in 1 glass of water, daily. However, you can even make a toner with ACV to apply it topically on your back acne.

4. Tea Tree Oil Remedy for Back Acne
Tea tree oil, derived from the leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia of Australia, has anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties. Terpinen-4-ol compound in tea tree oil gives it it’s antimicrobial properties. The anti-bacteria effect of tea tree oil eliminate the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes which is responsible for the development of acne.

9 Biggest Mistakes People with Oily Skin Make

Having oily skin is pretty much one of the most annoying things ever. You’re always worried about looking shiny or your makeup melting off. You probably carry around oil blotting sheets and extra makeup just to avoid any sign of shine. It’s a struggle.

Oily skin is even more a struggle in the summertime because it’s hot and you’re sweaty. Your skin is likely freaking out, and you feel like you can’t get your oil under control. But you can get it under control if you avoid the following:

1. Not using moisturizer

We get that you probably don’t see the need to add a layer of hydration to your skin, but it’s no reason to write it off. Skin cells need water to live and stay healthy, so it’s crucial to add that hydration and remember to look for a formula that is light and non-comedogenic or oil-free.

2. Not Keeping Skin Hydrated Topically

We are often fooled into thinking an oilier skin doesn’t need as much topical hydration, but remember that neglecting this will only result in an over production of oil. Try and make an effort to protect the skin cells by applying hydrating serums or oils to prevent the skin feeling dried out.

3. Being chaotic with beauty buys

If you suffer from spots make a decision to rationalize your routine. It can take at least six weeks to get used to a new product approach so be patient and don't constantly overload your pores with new and different formulas.

4. Always using long-wear makeup

You may use long-wear foundations or concealers to cover up spots or shine, but this can actually unbalance the skin making matters worse. Have barefaced days when you can and never sleep in your makeup.

5. Washing With Hot Water

Hot water dehydrates your skin, which is why your skin probably feels dry when you get out of a super hot shower. But the same idea goes for your face. Don't wash your face in a sink full of hot water. Instead, use warm or tepid water to keep your skin plump while cleansing.

6. Being afraid of oil

Not all oils are the same. Don’t be afraid of the word “oil” in some moisturizers, creams and lotions. Jojoba and argan oils are used in many products to help with nourishing benefits and are non-comedogenic, so they get a pass.

7. Not Being Attentive to Your Skin

A common assumption is that if you have oily skin, you’ll get fewer wrinkles. But, that’s not necessarily true. It’s the skin’s thickness (and not how much oil it produces) that matters — although thickness is often associated with oily skin. You don’t want to make the mistake of neglecting your skin just because you think the oily factor will prevent wrinkles.

8. Touching Your Face

Touching your face can not only cause breakouts, but it can also increase oil production because there are so many oils on your fingers. Even if you're sweating, try not to wipe it off your face with your fingers. Instead, blot it off with a paper towel or blotting papers.

9. Looking For a Magic Cure

This is your skin type – there is no magic cure and way you can miraculously make this change. There are, however, ways that you can learn to deal with your skin better. The quickest, simplest and fastest way to create less shine on the skin and combat oil is to blot skin often, with either oil-blotting papers or tissue. Dusting with a mattifying powder is also great for managing shine.

The best kept secret to get rid of acne and acne scars. It really works! Trust me...

For years i have had bad acne and scaring. I have used almost all the tricks in the book until i came across information on what is called the Oil Cleansing Method - Read also How You Can Cure Acne Naturally -. I saw success stories and it seemed not only simple but also cheap! Expensive brands claiming to fix acne do work for some time but then dry your face out and eventually stop working. I was tired of a flaky/oily face and the caked on make-up to cover it all up.

So here is the AMAZING Oil Cleansing Method:

"Using oil to wash my face is probably the last thing I would think of. After reading about oil-cleansing, it all began to make sense.
If you need to know more about oil cleansing method, try this article : The Best Kept Secrets About Oil Cleansing
Our skin produces oil in order to function properly. When we use harsh or even mild facial cleaners/lotions/products they strip our face of it’s natural oils. Our skin is then forced to compensate by producing more oil. An over production of oil will clog our pores- causing acne-and  leave our skin feeling/looking oily. I normally would wash my face (with Cetaphil) at 6:15am and it would get oily by 8:30am!"
There are many reasons why our skin can benefit from oil-cleansing.
  1. Oil dissolves oil
  2. It will dissolve the oil that has hardened throughout the day and stuck in your pores
  3. Naturally keeps your skin supple and moisturized
  4. Easily removes make up
  5. Cheaper than buying facial products
  6. It’s a cleanser, make-up remover and moisturizer all in one!
  7. Helps even out skin tone
  8. 100% Natural
Recommendations:
  • For those with normal skin use a 1:1 ratio of Castor Oil(cold-pressed) and EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil)
  • For those with acne-prone or oily skin use a 3:1 ratio of Castor Oil (cold pressed)and EVOO. (This is what I've been using)
  • For those with drier skin start off with a 1:3 ratio of Castor Oil (cold-pressed) and EVOO
I keep my oil in a small container with 3 Tbs of Castor Oil and 1 Tbs of EVOO – it lasts about 2 weeks.
You can use several different types of oil, but after some comparing, I went with a combination of 70% Castor Oil (Make sure it’s cold-pressed) and 30% Extra Virgin Olive Oil. My reason is because Castor Oil is great at pulling  out all of the dirt/build-up, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil is very nourishing and moisturizing. It also has the same PH as human skin.
The routine goes like this:
  1. Let your faucet run, so the water gets pretty hot.
  2. Gently rub a quarter size amount on your face for about a minute. Make sure to massage it in and not scrub it.
  3. Run a washcloth under the faucet. (This part is important, because it has to be hot enough to cause a steaming effect that helps to remove the dirt form your pores.) Leave the washcloth over your face until it’s cooled down, about a minute.
  4. Gently wipe off the oil using the washcloth.
  5. Your skin will probably look nice an supple and will probably be a little red from the steam.
I have been using this method for about a month now and i am so happy with it. My skin isnt half as oily, my make-up looks great all afternoon. My acne has decreased significantly, only a few pimple here and there and even then they clear up within a day or two. My scaring is also going away. You really should see results within a few days. I use this method at night and in the morning i wash my face with Mary Kay Timewise because it helps prevent wrinkles and really makes your skin feel great.

Amazing Home Remedies For Teeth Whitening

People all over the world keep obsessed by the color of their teeth,so they keep looking for ways to Whiten their teeth rapidly. To be honest, I’m one of them. Yet, after years of research, I came up to the conclusion that the natural way is the best one.

1. Baking Soda and Lemon Juice

Sodium bicarbonate is mildly abrasive; gently washing and scrubbing away teeth surface stains to give you back the natural color and shade. Sodium is known to contain a lot of alkaline which is the opposite of acidic nutrients, so I would recommend if you have a very acidic mouth or eat a lot of acidic food, it will help balance out the Ph. It will also reduce the acidity of the lemon juice, which acts as a natural bleach of sorts.

2. Teeth-saving Snacks

Snack on saliva-producing foods like apples, pears, strawberries, celery and carrots,” says Thomas Connelly, DDS, a New York City cosmetic dentist. The additional saliva they produce helps remove bacteria from your mouth and whiten your teeth.

3. Coconut Oil Rinse

Rinsing your mouth with coconut oil (called ‘oil pulling’) is a special remedy that people experienced and it helped them to whiten their teeth. The lauric acid in coconut oil can rid your teeth of bacteria found in plaque that can make them yellow. It is also supposed to promote gum health, and help keep your breath fresh.

4. Vegetables Greens

Load up on spinach and other dark green veggies, like broccoli and kale. These leafy greens contain a mineral compound which produces a film that covers teeth and protects against stains.

5. Lemon

The bleaching property present in lemons can also help get rid of yellow discoloration. In fact, gargling with lemon juice and scrubbing your teeth with lemon peel is one of the best ways to make your teeth white again.
  1. Mix together a few drops of lemon juice and some salt.
  1. Apply the mixture on the stained teeth and rub the paste vigorously over your teeth and gums. Leave it on for a few minutes and then rinse your mouth thoroughly with water.
  1. Do this twice daily for about two weeks to get rid of tartar and the yellow tinge.

How to Make Your Blackheads Disappear forever

Blackheads are dark tiny bumps on skin. They are a mild type of acne and are medically known as open comedones. Interestingly, the black color of these comedones is not due to dirt. They appear dark and black in color as the sebum is exposed to the oxygen in air. Though slightly raised, unlike pimples, blackheads are not painful or inflamed.

More often than not, they appear as enlarged pores and black spots, especially around the nose, chin, and cheeks. They are caused by a buildup of excess sebum and dead skin cells leading to blocked skin pores. Thus, this problem is more common in individuals with oily skin or combination skin.

Excess oil production, in turn, is caused by a number of factors like hormonal changes, genetic predisposition, stress, intake of certain medications, environmental factors, and so on.Furthermore, improper skin care is another important reason leading to blackheads. For instance, using too much makeup, oil, or oil-based creams increase your chances of developing this problem.
If you suffered for so long and you are looking for a way to really get rid of blackheads forever, try this:

How to Get Rid of Blackheads

Given below are 7 effective solutions for eliminating blackheads from your skin.

1. Taking facial steam every week or every alternate week is highly beneficial for opening your skin pores and softening the sebum plugs causing blackheads. For this, you can place your face over a bowl of hot water for about 10-15 minutes. You may add dried herbs or a few drops of essential oils in boiling water to increase the effectiveness of this procedure. Facial steaming and application of warm compresses makes it easier to remove the blackheads. Thus, use this procedure before applying any face mask to eliminate this problem.

2. Exfoliate your skin with an oatmeal mask to get rid of blackheads. To prepare the mask, add sufficient green tea or chamomile tea in a tablespoon of colloidal oatmeal to form a thin paste. You can make your own colloidal oatmeal at home by grinding rolled oats or quick oats in a food processor or coffee grinder to get a fine powder. After rinsing off the oatmeal mask from your face, dab hydrogen peroxide on the affected area with the help of a cotton ball.

3. Mash a few strawberries to get two tablespoons of strawberry pulp. Mix a teaspoon of honey in this pulp to form a paste. Apply it on your face and neck. Rinse it off after 20 minutes. There is another interesting homemade peel off mask prepared by mixing half a cup of lemon juice, orange juice, or tomato juice and a packet of plain gelatin. You can heat this mixture either on a stovetop or in a microwave for about 15 seconds. Leave it to set for about five minutes. Finally, brush it lightly on your face, particularly around your nose with a makeup brush or a small paintbrush and peel it off when it dries.

4. Whisk an egg white and apply a thin layer on your face, especially around the nose. When it dries, spread another layer. Let it dry for about 15 minutes. Finally, scrub it off with a warm, wet washcloth to reduce blackheads naturally. You can follow this procedure once or twice a week.

5. Use an over-the-counter cream or lotion containing benzoyl peroxide to get rid of blackheads. You can use it about two times in a day for about four to six weeks. Before applying the cream, though, make sure your clean your face thoroughly. You can also use retinoids and cleansers containing salicylic acid.

6. Take half a cup of boiling water and add one teaspoon of Epsom salt and three drops of iodine in it. Dip a cotton ball in this solution and apply it on the affected areas to treat blackheads.

7. Using blackhead strips or pore strips can be an effective way to improve blackheads and plugged pores. Besides, you can opt for comedone extractors that help remove blackheads through suction.

If nothing else works, then you may consider cosmetic procedures like laser or light therapy. In case you are interested in a non-invasive procedure then you may try chemical peels or microdermabrasion.
